Jackie “Jack” Paul Campbell

Jackie “Jack” Paul Campbell, age 65, of Erwin, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 17, 2015, at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Unicoi County and a son of the late Zack and Grace Pratt Campbell. Jack served in the United States Navy during Vietnam on board of the USS John F. Kennedy CV-67 Air Force Carrier. He retired after 37 years of service from the CSX Railroad where he was a machinist and federal inspector. He loved his work and his work family. Jack was an avid bluegrass “picker and grinner.” He was a very outgoing person that never met a stranger and was a very selfless person always willing and desiring to help others. It has been said that he had a heart bigger than he himself. Jack was a member of First Baptist Church of Erwin. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Deaton.

Danny Joe Taylor, MacKenzie Walker, Natalie Walker,
Hayleigh Long, Bradley Walker, and Jaxon Long (on the way);
Numerous Nieces and Nephews

A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 6:00 P.M. and continue until 8:00 P.M on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at Valley Funeral Home. The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Jackie “Jack” Paul Campbell in a funeral service to be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, May 21, 2015 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Ronnie Campbell and Reverend Noah Taylor will officiate. Vocal selections will be provided by Jason Holcomb. A committal service will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with military graveside honors provided by the United States Navy. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be notified.

In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial donations be made to the Niswonger Children’s Hospital, 400 N State Of Franklin Rd, Johnson City, TN 37604 or to the American Heart Association, 208 Sunset Drive, Suite 113, Johnson City, TN 37604.
