Jack Stinson Daniel

Jack Stinson Daniel, age 87 of Erwin, passed away peacefully December 28, 2015. He was born December 3, 1928, the son of Harold T. and Iris B. Daniel.. He was a devout Christian who cared deeply for others and loved the Lord. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Navy. He was called to preach in the late 1950s and was a retired pastor and founder of both Good Shepherd and Omega Baptist Churches. He attended ETSU for several semesters in order to further his ministry. He was a yard engineer for the Clinchfield Railroad for over 30 years, which was a great source of pride to him. Known as “Jug” to his friends and family, he was a people-person who loved telling stories and talking about the good old days. He was a big fan of UCHS football, a member of the Blue Devils Sportsmen’s Club, and would even take unpaid time off from work to attend the games. Preceded in death by his parents, his brother William (Bill) Daniel, and sisters Dorothy (Dot) Page, Betty Armstrong, Doris Ann Rutherford, and Sue Hendrickson. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Lee (McNabb) Daniel; daughter Cindy and husband Tom Meade of Johnson City; granddaughter Raven and husband David Edwards of Knoxville; grandson Robbie Meade of Nashville; great-grandchildren Parker and Mary-Kate Edwards; brother Jim Daniel of Kingsport; brother-in-law Sam McNabb of Erwin; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of the Center on Aging and Health for the loving care provided to Jack. The interment service was held on December 25th at Evergreen Cemetery.
