J.H. “JAKE” HOPSON

J.H. “Jake” Hopson, 82, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at U.C.M.H. Long Term Care Unit.
A native of Mitchell County, N.C., he was the son of the late Jake and Ader Peterson Hopson.
Mr. Hopson was an avid outdoorsman. He loved singing, listening to gospel music and attending church. He attended Lyons Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Marie Tester Hopson, Unicoi; four children and their spouses: Angela “Angie” & Tim Sheehan, Johnson City, Jerry and Tina Hopson, Unicoi, Barry and Barbara Hopson, and Doug Hopson, all of Johnson City; grandchildren: Kelly White and Marley Hopson; nine step-grandchildren; two step-great grandchildren; one brother, Jack Hopson, Unicoi; two sisters, Georgie Lavender, North Carolina, and Fannie Higgins, Johnson City; and special sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Wayne Shirley, and Dorothy and Robert Ingram, all of Johnson City; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service was held at 6 p.m., Saturday, June 4, in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City, with the Rev. Arnold Hensley and the Rev. Kenneth Grindstaff officiating.
Interment was at 10 a.m., Monday, June 6, at Evergreen Cemetery.
Tetrick Funeral Services was in charge.
