Ida Evelyn Honeycutt, age 98, of Erwin, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at the Center on Aging and Health. She was a native of Erwin and a daughter of the late John D. and Margaret LuCinda Runion Tipton. Ida was a seamstress with Industrial Garments until her retirement. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and loved to read. Ida was a member of Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Honeycutt is preceded in death by her husband, Jeter Honeycutt, daughters, Betty Jo Harris, Diana McCurry, grandchildren, Mitchell Bowman, Teresa McKinney, Mark Harris, brothers, Oscar, Monroe, and Lattie Tipton, and sisters Gladys Haun and Flora Bennett.

The life of Ida Evelyn Honeycutt will be remembered and honored in a funeral service to be at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 25, 2013 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend David Crutchfield will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 1:00 PM and continue until service time on Friday at Valley Funeral Home. A graveside committal service will be held following the funeral service at Evergreen Cemetery on Friday. Serving as active pallbearers will be Michael McCurry, Aaron Peterson, Glenn Cox, Brandon Haun, Brian Sims, Alan Bradshaw, and Allan Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jewell Dunbar and the deacons of Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church.
