Helen Beatrice “Bea” Kegley Whitson

II Timothy 4:7 (KJV) I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith…Helen Beatrice “Bea” Kegley Whitson, 89, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, in the Unicoi County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Facility. Bea was a native of Unicoi County and the 8th of 11 children born to the late Wade and Ada Allen Kegley. Early in her working career she had been employed by the former Southern Potteries, Erwin, she then retired in 1990 as an inspector at the former Work Wear Corp following 22 years of service. Bea was a member of Erwin Church of Christ being baptized in 1933 at the age of 9 in the “Helton Pond” in the Martin’s Creek Community, Erwin. She lived a faithful Christian life and was an example to many. She was the mother of two, but “Mothered” many more and was affectionately known as “Aunt Bea” to many who knew and loved her. At the age of 84, she was still busy driving saying she needed to stay busy taking care of the “Elderly”. In addition to her parents, Bea is preceded in death by Brothers: Harold Kegley, Thero Kegley, Lee Kegley and Earl Kegley and by Sisters: Irene Willis, Anna Jackson, Elizabeth Renfro and Mogene Estep.

One Brother: Wade Kegley, Jr. and wife Winsie, Erwin
One Sister: Marie Deyton, Erwin
Grandchildren: Alison McNabb, Jarrett Whitson and Maci Whitson
Great Granddaughters: Amelia Lockett and Anna Catherine Lockett

The family requests the honor of your presence as we honor and remember the life of Bea Whitson in a funeral service to be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 6, 2014 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Ministers Jeff Johnson and Tim Hall will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday and continue until service time at Valley Fuenral Home. The committal service will follow to Roselawn Memory Gardens. Serving as pallbearers are: Tony Estep, Phil Erwin, Gary Jackson, John Bannister, Bennie Cole and Jarrett Whitson. Named as Honorary Pallbearers are her Nephews and Men of Erwin Church of Christ.
