Harold Richardson, age 71, of Erwin, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2013, at Johnson City Medical Center. Born on October 4, 1941 in Unicoi County, he was a son of the late Alvin and Ida Lockner Richardson. Harold was a Vietnam Veteran, having served in the United States Army. He owned and operated Richardsons Grocery, in the Embreeville Community for 22 years. He formerly attended Bumpus Cove Missionary Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School and sang in the quartet. He also coached youth baseball in Washington County for over 20 years.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by Brothers Claude, Thomas and Fred Richardson and Sisters Irene Richardson and Mary Painter.

Grandchildren: Tyler, Noah, Trevor, Seth, Jadon, Caden, Garrison and Gavin Richardson;
Step Grandchildren: Kegan Robinette, Austin Sparks, Austin and Logan Leach.
Brother-in-Law: Gilbert Painter of Bluff City, TN;
Sister-in-Law: Anna Katherine Richardson of Erwin;

Best friend: Paul Phillips of Johnson City.
The life of Harold Richardson will be remembered and honored in a funeral service at 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Otis Banks and Reverend Michael Rice will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 6:00 PM and continue until service time at Valley Funeral Home on Wednesday. A graveside committal service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Bumpus Cove Cemetery. Those attending should meet at Valley Funeral Home by 10:30AM Thursday to go in procession to the cemetery.
