Harold R. Bailey

Harold Bailey newspaperHarold R. Bailey, age 78, of Erwin, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Franklin Woods Medical Center. Harold was a native of Unicoi County and a son of the late Elmer and Virgie Watts Bailey. He was an Electrician and was a member of Southside Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Bailey proudly served in the United States Army. He loved hunting and fishing. In addition to his parents, Harold is preceded in death by one son, Brian Harold Bailey, and one brother, Denny Bailey.


Harold R. Bailey has left behind to cherish his memory:

Loving wife: Betty Hardin Bailey, of Erwin;

Daughter: Kathy Bailey Hensley, and husband Mike, of Unicoi;

Son: Chris Bailey, of Erwin;

Grandchildren: Heather Stanford, and husband Jon;

Justin Bennett, and wife April;

Lucas and Zoey Bailey;

Great-grandchildren: Cadence and Emersyn Stanford;

Easton Bennett;

Brothers: Frank Bailey, and wife Diane;

Harley Bailey, and wife Katherine;

Several nieces and nephews.


The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Harold R. Bailey in a funeral service to be at 3:00 PM, Sunday, August 14, 2016, in the chapel of Valley Funeral Home with Reverend Kevin Laws and Reverend Charlie Trivette officiating. Music will be provided by Roger Ambrose, Reverend Kevin Laws, and members of the Southside Free Will Baptist Church Choir. A visitation period to share memories and show support to the family will begin at 1:00 PM and will continue until service time on Sunday at Valley Funeral Home. A committal service with military honors will be held at Evergreen Cemetery following the service. Serving as active pallbearers will be Mike Hensley, Justin Bennett, Wayne Sawyer, Kamil Lamaa, Maurice Robinson and Gary Phillips.
