Grady D. Hughes, age 63, of Erwin, passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2018, at his residence. Mr. Hughes is a native of Johnson City and a son of the late Charlie and Mary Ruth Privette Hughes. He worked for the former NN Ball and Roller as a machinist in the Roller Division. Mr. Hughes loved to fish, loved Nascar, enjoyed playing video games with Josh, and had a love for old cars. Grady was a member of Canah Chapel Free Will Baptist Church where he was a former Sunday school teacher and a former trustee. In addition to his parents, Grady is preceded in death by his half-brothers, Willie Alvin Greene, Sr. and Sammy Ray Greene, Sr. and nieces, Kelly Marie Poore Gantt and Kari Case.

Daughter: Brittany Thomas and husband, Stephen;
Sisters: Thelma Jean Hughes Ayers and husband, Johnny,
Sylvia Elizabeth Hughes Hutton and husband, Robert;
Several Nieces and Nephews.
The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Grady Hughes in a funeral service to be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, September 28, 2018 in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. Mark Simmons will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 PM on Friday, September 28, 2018 and will continue until service time in the chapel at Valley Funeral Home. A committal service will be held in Evergreen Cemetery on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11:00 AM. Those wishing to attend the committal service will meet at Valley Funeral Home by 10:30 AM to go in procession. Those serving as active pallbearers will be Brittany Thomas, Mark Whitson, Doug Whitson, Adam Whitson, Kevin Ayers, Winston Claspul.
