Gerald DeWayne Foster

On the morning of Friday, November 8th, 2019, 43-year-old Gerald DeWayne Foster arrived in Heaven with a new body which included a new liver and kidney. He was greeted by his Mother Madalyn (Adkins) Foster, Grandfathers: Reverend Vanas Foster (paternal) and Gerald Adkins (maternal); Grandmother, Hazel (Byrd) Adkins (maternal); Aunt Verna Foster and Uncles: Jack Willis, Dean Foster, and Terry Hensley.

Gerald was a 1994 graduate of Unicoi County High School. Gerald delighted in his family and especially enjoyed activities with his nieces Hannah and Kayla Bowman. He looked forward to weekly bible study with his friends at his home. Lisa Mills of the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders, as well as all the cheerleaders, were great encouraging Gerald during his two year battle with liver and kidney failure. Gerald loved watching NASCAR racing with his father Pierson Foster and cheering on NAPA race car driver Chase Elliott.

In addition to his father and nieces, the family member who will cherish their memories of Gerald includes: Brother, David Foster; Sisters: Tracy Foster, and Robin Bowman and husband and special brother-in-law, Tom Bowman; paternal Grandmother, Nan (Proffitt) Foster; Uncle Dale (Kathy) Foster; Aunts: Donna Willis and Geraldine Hensley; nephews: Brenden and Braden Hyder;  Special cousins include: Chris Willis and wife Jennifer, Katlyn Higgins, Jaclyn Edwards, and husband Jason, Presley Edwards, Alivia Edwards, Taylor Hensley and husband Ethan Hensley, as well as, other cousins, great aunts, and uncles.

Friends that Gerald thought of as family included his daily healthcare team members: Sarah Wennogle, Paulette Robinson and Becky Daniels; special friends: Pastor Steve Rice and wife Carol, Toney and Debbie Tittle and their grand-daughter Addie, Joyce Griffith and Sherry Orcutt.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel and other times at Gerald’s family home, 1126 Cross Drive, Erwin, TN 37650. Pastor Steve Rice, Pastor Zach Smith and Pastor Art Gibson will officiate at the 7:00 PM service. Committal will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday in the Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Doug Bowman, Tim Bowman, Brian Whitson, Les Honeycutt, Chris Willis, Ethan Hensley and Jason Edwards. Everyone is asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 AM on Friday to go in procession to the cemetery.

Anyone who would like to wear Dallas Cowboy attire at Gerald’s service are invited to do so.
