Georgia Ann Saltz, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, at the Center on Aging and Health, surrounded by her loving family.
A native of Green Mountain, N.C., she lived most of her life in Erwin. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was the daughter of the late William and Geneva Bennett. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Thomas Lyle Saltz, and two brothers, Bill Bennett and Walter Bennett of Johnson City.
Mrs. Saltz was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Erwin, where she was a Sunday school teacher and circle member. Most of her life she was a professional buyer/manager for the Unaka Stores of Erwin and later became a buyer for Dossers Department Store and J. Miller Fashions of Johnson City.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law: Barbara Hampton and husband Murrel, Susie Riddle and husband Michael, Vivian Fisher and husband Glenn, all from Erwin; grandchildren: Kim Rutherford, Lisa Peterson, Greg Riddle, Christy Hyder, Kerri King, Gina Podvin, Dale Fisher, John Fisher; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Geneva Bennett and Mary Alma Miller; a very special cousin, Joyce McCurry Jenkins; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Graveside services and interment was held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 24, at Evergreen Cemetery. The Rev. Macil Duncan of First Baptist Church officiated.
Active pallbearers were Dale Fisher, John Fisher, Jeff King, Benny Peterson, and Jason Podvin.
