Terry Gene Miller, age 80, 2901 Zane Whitson Drive, Unicoi, went home to be with the Lord at 9:55 a.m. Sunday, September 29, 2013, in Johnson City Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County and Johnson City, a son of the late Fred and Etta Jones Miller. Mr. Miller was a longtime faithful member of Unicoi Christian Church where he taught Sunday School and served as both a Deacon and a Elder. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Miller was a member of both the Lamar Ruritan Club and Unicoi Ruritan Club. He was also a member of the Johnson City Optimist Club. Mr. Miller was a retired supervisor with Burlington Industries after 42 years of service. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Other than parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers: Andy Miller, Curtis Miller, Farrell Miller and Herman Miller; two sisters: Pauline Miller and Patricia Messimer.
Mr. Miller is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Blanca Santiago Miller; three sons: Terry Allen Miller and wife, Vickie Barnes Miller, Maryville, Jeffrey Mark Miller and wife, Cassie Branson Miller, Bristol, Virginia, and Freddie Bryan Miller, Atlanta, Georgia; one daughter, Melissa Range, Kingston, Tennessee; six grandchildren: Abram Miller, Jessica Range, Olivia Miller, Hannah Miller, Erika Range and Amelia Range;
two brothers: Lester Miller, Norfolk, Virginia, Roy Miller and wife, Donna, Unicoi; two sisters: Virginia Howell, Ozark, Missouri and Pansy Messimer, Johnson City; brother-in-law, Wendell Messimer, Johnson City; sister-in-law, Vera Miller, Michigan.
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service for Mr. Miller will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2013, from the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel. Roy Poling, Wayne Mottern and Brent Nidiffer, Ministers will officiate.
Special music will be provided by the Bryant Family and Inez Chandler. Active pallbearers will be Steve Miller, Randy Miller, Danny Messimer, Christopher James, Will Wingate, Austin Wingate, Tyler Stevens and Abram Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be fellow members of Lamar Ruritan Club and Unicoi Ruritan Club.
The family will receive friends prior to the service between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Tuesday and other times at his home.
The committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2013, in Washington County Memory Gardens. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m. Wednesday.
