Gene Edward Bowman, 82, died Friday, July 8, 2011 at Appalachian Christian Village. Born in Johnson City, he was the son of the late Charles Ed and Bessie Leach Bowman.
He was a member of First Christian Church in Erwin. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Mr. Bowman was retired from CSX railroad where he was superintendant of motor power. He was a member of Jericho Shrine Temple.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons: Jeffrey G. Bowman, and Larry Edward Bowman.
Survivors include his loving wife: Gladys Laws Bowman; his son: Patrick L. Bowman and wife Melanie; granddaughter: Mindy P. Bowman; and several cousins.
A Celebration of Life service was held on Monday, July 11, at 2 p.m., in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services with the Rev. David Roberts officiating.
A Mausoleum Entombment service followed in Monte Vista Memorial Park.
Tetrick Funeral Services was in charge.
