Gary L. Griffith

Gary L. Griffith, 63, of Erwin, died Thursday, March 1, 2012, at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a lifelong native of Unicoi County and was a son of the late Arnold and Gertrude Parker Griffith.

He co-owned and operated King Vest Sports of Greeneville for the past 17 years. He was a member
of Central Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, served on the board of trustees, was the stewardship chairman and taught the Fellowship Sunday School Class for many years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister: Carol Poston. Survivors include his wife: Louise Griffith of Erwin; sons: Travis Griffith and wife Melissa, Erwin, Bradley Griffith, Johnson City; grandchildren: Neelee Griffith, Allee Griffith, Emma Griffith, Sadie Griffith; brother: James Griffith of San Francisco, Calif.; niece: Leanne Hartman and husband, Jason, Shelby, N.C.; a great niece and great nephew.

Funeral services for Mr. Griffith were held on Sunday, March 4, 2012, at 8 p.m., in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. The Rev.Larry Wiley and the Rev. Brian Griffith officiated. Vocal selections were provided by Bubba Evely, Melissa Griffith and Jimmy Dunn. Interment was at 10 a.m., Monday, March 5, in the Mausoleum Chapel of Evergreen Cemetery. Selected as honorary pallbearers were the men of Central Baptist Church.

Valley Funeral Home was in charge.
