Gary Dean Davis, 64, of Unicoi, went home to be with his Lord and Savior after a brief battle with cancer on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Bristol Regional Medical Center with his loving family by his side. Mr. Davis was a native of Unicoi County and a son of Jean Marcus Davis and the late Elmer Dean Davis. Gary was a member of Limestone Cove First United Methodist Church since he was about 10 years old. He loved his church and has served on the Pastor-Parish Committee, as a trustee and a sound technician, and helped with the building and maintenance of the church grounds. He was a ASE certified Master Technician, and worked in the automotive industry for 41 years. He was currently employed with Champion Chevrolet Cadillac. He was an artist, a carpenter and a furniture maker. In addition to his father, Gary was preceded in death by one brother, Phillip Kevin Davis, one sister Patricia Ann Gentry and one brother-in-law Donald Gentry.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Gary Dean Davis in a funeral service to be held at 8:00 PM, Monday, August 15, 2016, in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. A visitation period to share memories and support to the family will begin at 6:00 PM and will continue until service time on Monday at Valley Funeral Home. A committal service will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at Bell Cemetery. Reverend Melinda Sturm, Reverend Estel Williams and Reverend Ron Murray will officiate. Those attending the graveside service will need to meet at Limestone Cove First United Methodist Church by 10:00 AM on Tuesday for prayer service and then procession to Bell Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be J.L. Mullins, Lonnie Glass, Eddie Hill, Michael Mullins, Brian Belcher, Tracy Brummett, Mark Marcus, and Jeff Marcus. Honorary pallbearers will be Neil Honeycutt, Trevor Gentry, Bud Gouge, members of the Limestone Cove First United Methodist Church, Lynn Jones, Tommie Trivette, Mark Leonard and all his friends and co-workers of Champion Chevrolet Cadillac, his numerous cousins and his many lifelong friends from “the cove”.
