Flossie Edwards Bailey, age 98, Flag Pond, left this world Thursday, December 13, 2018 surrounded by the love of her family. She was a daughter of the late Rufus and Eliza Crain Edwards. Flossie is survived by her husband of seventy-eight years, Grady Alvin Bailey, her sister, Margie Tilson; her three sons: Bob Fender, Dorsey Bailey (Blanche), Pascal Bailey (Karen). Her heart was broken when her granddaughter, Alexandria Bailey passed. Her ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren were the light in her eyes. She will be missed dearly by us all.
Gramma was born March 28, 1920 in Flag Pond and spent her life caring for her family and loved ones. She and Grampa met when he was a logger and she was the cook. They married November 23, 1940 and started to build a family that was rich in unconditional love and commitment, lots of gravy, biscuits, cornbread and strong coffee! More important was the time we spent as a family around that table filled with love.
All of her days were full cooking, quilting, canning, loafing, planting, adventure seeking and she was quite the bowler. She had a special love for all of the babies and often babysat her grandkids, nieces, nephews and even her younger brother. We all carry her with us and her hand can be seen in our successes.
Although our hearts are broken, we take comfort knowing she will be laid to rest next to her Alexandria. Family will always be her cornerstone and she will forever be ours.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 P.M. on Sunday, December 16, 2018 in the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Jerry Keasling will officiate at the 7:00 P.M. funeral service. Grandchildren and great grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. A private family interment will be held in the family cemetery.
