Eva Dell McIntosh Shelton

Eva Dell McIntosh Shelton, age 92, of Erwin, died Thursday, July 5, 2012, in the Unicoi County Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 1, 1920, to the late Carl and Viola Crain McIntosh in Unicoi County where she spent most of her life. She attended Hulen Baptist Church before going to the Center on Aging and Health.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: James Harmon Shelton; sister: Effie English; brothers: Dallas, Clarence and Theodore McIntosh; stepsons: Glenn Shelton and Cline Shelton and grandchild: Gary Wheeler.
Survivors include sons: Worley Carl Shelton and wife Louise, James Dale Shelton and wife Jo; daughters: Shirley English and husband Carroll, Edna Faye Wheeler and husband Zane; stepdaughters in-law: Maggie and Gladys Shelton; grandchildren: Gene Shelton, Morris Shelton, Billy Shelton, David Shelton, Johnny Shelton, Donna Woody, Alan English, Gene Wheeler , J. D. Shelton, Sherri Hutchins, Darren Shelton and Amanda Metcalf; special granddaughter: Darlene and Eddie Hensley; host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Grace Metcalf, Hazel Loyd and Robbie Metcalf; brothers: Charles, Gerald and Venus McIntosh; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Mrs. Shelton was held at 7 p.m., Saturday, July 7, in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. The Rev. Darren Shelton officiated. Music was under the direction of Kevin Laws and Dennis Shelton and accompanied by Craig T. Shelton.
A committal service was conducted at 1 p.m., Sunday, July 8, at the Upper Laurel Cemetery, located in Mars Hill, N.C.
Serving as pallbearers were Alan, JD, Gene, Brown, Adam, Joey, Jacob and Robert. Honorary pallbarears were Eddie Hensley, James Hutchins, Scott Metcalf, Tim Woody, Carroll English and Zane Wheeler.
