Estil “Hoot” Tipton

Estil “Hoot” Tipton, age 82, of Erwin, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, in his childhood home. A native of Virginia, Estil is a son of the late William and Mary Bell Tipton Carroll. Mr. Tipton retired from the US Forest Service. He served as a minister at Millers Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and filled in at Unaka Springs Free Will Baptist Church and other churches throughout his ministry. Mr. Tipton was an Elder with the Free Will Baptist Preachers Association. Estil was a godly man who was friendly to everyone he met. Mr. Tipton was a GMF welder, was a former Fire Chief at Southside Fire Department, loved to collect guns, and enjoyed cooking, hunting and fishing.   In addition to his parents, Estil is preceded in death by his first wife: Virginia Faye (Tolley) Tipton and a daughter Lisa S. Tipton.

Estil “Hoot” Tipton leaves behind to cherish his memory:

Wife: Lucille Price Tipton, of Erwin;

Daughter: Dottie Tipton and Joe Miller, of Erwin;

Stepson: Mitchell Price, of Erwin;

Stepdaughter: Joan Robinett and husband, Andy of Harlan, KY;

Grandchildren: Mattie Ellis and husband, Boone, of Johnson City;

Daniel Robinett of Frankfort, KY;

Leanne Price of Erwin;

1 Great Grandchild;

Several other family members also survive.

The family would like to offer special thanks to Johnson City Medical Center ER Staff, Mountain States Hospice and personal friends who were with him non-stop.

A committal service will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Evergreen Cemetery. Reverend Arnold Hensley and Reverend Steve Cochran will officiate. Those who will attend will meet at Evergreen Cemetery by 1:50 PM. Honorary pallbearers will be Eli Hensley, Joe Miller, Mitchell Price, Daniel Robinett, Bill Watson, Steve Cochran, Chuck Foster and Doyle Jones.
