ERNEST SMILEY MILLER JR.
Ernest Smiley Miller Jr., 36 Carnation, Collinsville, Ill., died Friday, Feb. 11, 2011, at 3:03 p.m. at his home.
Mr. Miller was born in Erwin March 18, 1928, the son of the late Ernest and Mamie Miller.
He was a graduate of East Tennessee State University and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Miller retired from the U.S. Defense Mapping Agency in St. Louis, Mo., as a cartographer.
He was a member and past commander of the Collinsville American Legion Post 365 and Meadow Heights Baptist Church in Collinsville.
Mr. Miller had a passion for bicycle riding and participated in several MS 150 races, which are bike events of 150 miles benefitting multiple sclerosis charities. He was also a model train enthusiast.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister.
Survivors include his wife, Almira Bryant Miller, who he married Dec. 27, 1951; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Marlisa Miller, Bowling Green, Ky.; and a brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Trieva Miller, Huntsville, Ala.
Funeral services will be held at Meadow Heights Baptist Church Tuesday. Feb. 15, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Jim Robinson officiating.
