Eleanor F. Thomas, age 78, 300 Arroyo Drive, Johnson City, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015 in the Erwin Health Care Center. She was born in S ullivan County and had lived in Erwin before making her home in Johnson City fifty-four years ago. Mrs. Thomas was a daughter of the late William Anderson Harris and Stella Duncan Harris. She was owner and manager of the Capri Motel, Johnson City until her retirement in 2004. Mrs. Thomas was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Erwin. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Thomas on February 27, 1998; three brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Thomas leaves behind to cherish her memories two sons: Bruce “David” Thomas and James B. “Jim” Thomas, both of Johnson City; one daughter, Susan Thomas Goodwin of Johnson City; one brother, Rod Harris of Erwin; one sister, Sue Ketcherside of Erwin; two grandchildren, Kayla Elizabeth Thomas and Chase Jordan Silvers. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P. M. until the hour of service Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Bryant Collins will officiate the 8:00 P. M. funeral service. Music will be provided by Queenie Wheeler and Inez Chandler. Pallbearers will be Henry Hampton and Deacons of Mountain View Baptist Church, Johnson City. Entombment will be held at 11:00 A. M. Friday in the Washington County Memory Gardens, Johnson City. Family, minister, pallbearers and friends are asked to meet at the mausoleum by 10:45 A. M. Friday.
