Reverend Edwin Yates “E.Y” Bailey, age 80, of Erwin, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Unicoi Memorial Hospital. He was born April 20, 1933 in Lost Cove, NC, but lived most of his life in Erwin, TN. He was the son of the late Harley and Mamel Tipton Bailey. E.Y. served in the United States Navy. Rev. Bailey pastored Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church, Limestone, South Side Free Will Baptist Church, Elizabethton, West Park Street Free Will Baptist Church, Erwin and Redeeming Grace Free Will Baptist Church, Erwin. He was a member of Redeeming Grace Free Will Baptist which he founded. He and his wife, his best friend, enjoyed working for the Lord. In their spare time they enjoyed camping and just being together.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jennie Witcher Bailey and three sons; Joseph Michael Bailey and wife, Janet, James Edwin and wife, Judy, Terry Alan Bailey and wife, Mary K. Grandson, Eric W. Bailey and wife, Crissy. Step Grandchildren, Amy Massey and husband, Joey, Kim Trivette and husband, Patrick, Seth Andrews and wife, Ashley. Step-Great Grandchildren, Chad and Rhyan Massey, Brayden, Ethan and Elijah Andrews. Special Great-Granddaughter, Emily Trivette. Sister, Louise Adkins and husband, Kenneth, Roland Bailey and wife, Linda, niece, Judy Sorenson and husband Mike. Great nephew, Garry Phillips and wife Jessica, their children, Maggie and Reid.

A funeral service for Reverend Edwin E.Y. Bailey will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Sonny Thomas and Alf Smith will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by Redeeming Grace Quartet. A committal service will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 12:00 PM until service time at Valley Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be the men of Redeeming Grace Free Will Baptist Church.
