Edward Ramsey, age 84, Erwin, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2017 at the Unicoi County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Ramsey was born in Flag Pond but lived most of his adult life in New Jersey. He was a son of the late Luther and Amanda Haynes Ramsey. Mr. Ramsey was a United States Army Veteran. He was a Semi Truck Driver and a Teamster. Mr. Ramsey was a member of the Erwin Moose Lodge.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Matthew Nagy; four brothers: Lloyd, Floyd, Bud and Clyde Ramsey; one sister, Grace Carathers.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his children, Vicki Ramsey-Williams and husband, Fred, Toledo, OH; John Nagy and wife, Theresa, Brick, NJ; one sister, Edith Johnston, Erwin; four grandchildren: Alexander Williams, Nicholas Williams, Brittany Nagy and Michael Nagy; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
The family will receive friends Friday, October 20, 2017 from 5:00 P. M. until the hour of service at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Kevin Laws will officiate at the 7:00 P. M. funeral service. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Committal service will be held at 11:00 A. M. Saturday in the Evergreen Cemetery. Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 10:30 A. M. on Saturday to go in procession to the cemetery.
