Edna Tipton Robbins, age 101, 508 West Park Street, Erwin passed away at her residence on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. She was born on May 12, 1915 in Los t Cove, NC but lived most of her life in Erwin. Edna was the last surviving child of the late Dock and Uslie Hensley Tipton. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Carl Robbins and twelve brothers and sisters.
She was a National Shuffle Board Champion while living in St. Petersburg, FL and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1967. Edna’s photograph appeared on the cover of Life Magazine. In her later years, she enjoyed watching baseball, tennis and golf. Edna loved flowers of all kinds and animals. Her favorite activities were playing bingo, lottery, tending her flowers and having a good meal. Edna always lived life on her own terms and will be remembered and missed by many relatives and friends. May she find peace and rest with God’s blessing.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories many special nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 A. M. until the hour of service on Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Kyle Tipton will officiate at the 11:00 A. M. funeral. Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be family and friends. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
