Edna Foster Templeton

Edna Templeton 001Edna Foster Templeton, 78, Johnson City, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017, at Franklin Woods Community Hospital. She was a native of Erwin and the daughter of the late Carl and Bessie Lee Shehan Foster.

In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her brother, Newman D. Foster.

Edna graduated High School in Unicoi County in 1956. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Northern Virginia Community College, Annandale, VA with an AAS in Applied Management. She earned her degree by attending classes at night and on weekends, while working a full time job. Edna had a Civil Service Career in Washington, D.C., spending seven years with the FBI and twenty nine years with NASA Headquarters. She proudly served and received several awards, including the NASA Exceptional Performance Medal. Edna retired and moved to Johnson City in 1993.

Edna was an avid reader and enjoyed the senior bowling leagues at Holiday Lanes. Her team (Beth, Trudy, and Edna) bowled together for more than twenty years. She volunteered as an AARP Tax Aide at the Johnson City Senior Center for twenty tax seasons. Before the ravages of time took over, Edna enjoyed travelling with her husband, Warren. They traveled to various national parks, Hawaii, Canada, Alaska, Europe, and cruised the Panama Canal, Bermuda, and other island destinations.

Those left to cherish Edna’s memory include her husband of fifty six years, Warren Templeton, two sisters: Carol McKinney and her husband Dannie, Bobbie Jean Scott; three brothers: Stanley Foster, Kenneth Foster and his wife Sue, and Reginald Foster and his wife Linda; several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Rachel Mondorer, Dr. Charles Famoyin, Dr. April Lambert, and their staff for the excellent care provided for Edna.

The family will greet friends to share memories from 5:00 PM until a Celebration of Edna’s Life at 6:00 PM on Friday, March 3, 2017 in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral and Cremation Services, Johnson City with Pastor Jonathan Feathers officiating. Edna will be laid to rest at a later date at Mountain Home National Cemetery.
