Eddie Kenneth Dayton

Eddie Kenneth Dayton, age 65, 201 Woodby Lane, Unicoi, TN went to be with the Lord Thursday, May 29, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was a native of Unicoi County and a son of the late Marshall and Leonna Copus Dayton. Mr. Dayton retired in 1974 after his employment as a supervisor with Leon Ferenbach for 27 years. He was a member of Unicoi Baptist Church since 1994. He enjoyed spending time worshiping, praising and testifying for his Lord and Savior. He also enjoyed time spent with family, friends, church family, and remembering his earlier times of coaching Erwin Little League and the YMCA Boys Basketball Teams. Mr. Dayton's last prayer,” Lord, please help those remaining to not be sad and mournful for I'm in the presence of You and family and friends that have gone before me. I have been the best light that I could be for all Lord; my family, and those you have allowed me to meet along the way. May all let Christ in their hearts. Amen.”

Other than his parents, Mr. Dayton was preceded in death by four sisters, his father-in-law, and mother-in-law, Cecill and Daisy Roberts Woodby, and son-in-law, Mark Edwards.

Mr. Dayton is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Connie Woodby Dayton, two sons: Matt Dayton, of the home; Tony Payne, and wife Christy, Elizabethton, two daughters: Kim Dayton Edwards, Unicoi; Ezett Sparks Barnette and husband, Jonathan, Elizabethton, six brothers: Lee Dayton, Johnson City; Ronnie Dayton, and wife, Angila, Unicoi; Sam Dayton, and wife, Janice, Monroe, NC; Bud Deyton, and wife, Ida, and Bill Deyton, all of Burnsville, NC; Frill Deyton, Hickory, NC, two sisters: Carolyn Dayton, Richfield, NC; Kathy Dayton Hall, and husband, Barry, Jonesborough, two grandsons: D.J. Harris, Elizabethton; Kayden Dayton, Unicoi, three granddaughters: Whitney Dayton, Unicoi; Ashley Payne, and Taylor Payne, both of Elizabethton, numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral service for Mr. Dayton will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, June 1, 2014 from the Unicoi Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Austin Rogers and Reverend Daniel Dunn will officiate. Special music selections will be provided by Teresa Masters. Pallbearers selected by the family are Matt Dayton, Tony Payne, Harold Oliver, D.J. Harris, Jonathan Barnette, Walter Burkett, Gene Garland, Kevin Beard, Gary Whitson, and Kenneth Lewis.

Interment will be in Bell Cemetery, Limestone Cove, immediately following the funeral service.

The family will receive friends Sunday, June 1, 2014 prior to the funeral service between the hours of 1:00 to 3:00 pm and other times at the residence.
