Earl Huskins,Sr., age 92, of Williamsburg, Virginia, formerly of Erwin, died Sunday evening, June 23, 2013, in Williamsburg, with his family by hi s side.
He was born in Erwin on July 30, 1920, a son of the late Daniel and Birdie Whaley Huskins. He made his career in Williamsburg, Virginia, returning to Erwin for a portion of his retirement. Earl served proudly in the United States Army during World War II, earning a Silver Star.
Other than parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Nellie Miller Huskins in 1999; an infant daughter: Brenda Gale Huskins; a son: Earl Huskins, Jr. a daughter: Debra Diane Iversen; two brothers and 5 sisters.
He is survived by a daughter: Faye Stamper, West Virginia; numerous grandchildren; a sister: Bessie Parkey, Erwin and a son-in-law: Bob Iversen, Williamsburg. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral service for Mr. Huskins will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2013, from the Erwin Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Doyle Pruett and Reverend Rob Moor will officiate. Special music will be provided by Inez Chandler. Active pallbearers will be family and friends.
The family will receive friends prior to the service between the hours of 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m. Saturday. The interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
