Dorothy Grace Dot Barnett went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 30, 2014. She was a native of Unicoi County and a daughter of the late Samuel and Sarah Coffie Barnett. She was a graduate of Unicoi County High School and attended the former Steed College, Johnson City. She graduated from Union College, Barbourville, Kentucky with her B.S. and M.A Degrees. She began her working career as a stenographer for the former Clinchfield Railroad for 2 ½ years, then as a stenographer-secretary at National Bank of Commerce, Memphis, TN for 7 ½ years, then as Secretary at National Newark and Essex Bank, Newark N.J. for 6 months. She then began teaching at Lakota High School in West Chester, Ohio for eleven years. She later retired as Administrative Assistant at Calvary Baptist Church, Erwin following 26 years and 3 months of service. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Ruth Callahan, Beatrice Bea Glover and Clara Lee Smith and by one infant brother: Ted Barnett. She leaves behind to cherish her memory:

The family requests the honor of your presence as we honor and remember the life of Dorothy Grace Dot Barnett in a funeral service to be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Rev. David Crutchfield will officiate. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Gary Amos. A time of visitation to share memories and offer support to the family will be from Noon until the 2 P.M. service time on Tuesday in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. A committal service will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 A.M. at Roselawn Memory Gardens. Deacons of Calvary Baptist Church will serve as Pallbearers. Those attending the committal service on Wednesday are asked to meet at the cemetery for the 9 A.M. service.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorial donations be made to the General Fund of Calvary Baptist Church, 540 Adams St. Erwin TN, 37650.
