Dora Kohler Bennett, age 75, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, at her residence.
Mrs. Bennett was a native of Germany. She came to the United States in 1957 as a new bride. She made a home in Erwin, where she and her husband, Earl, owned and operated Gateway Quick Shop for many years. She was an active member of the Blue Devil Sports Club during that time.
She was preceded in death by parents; one brother of Germany; her husband, Alfred Earl Bennett in 1990; sisters-in-law, Vivienne B. Frye and Gladys B. Crowder; and brothers-in-law, Clarence Bennett, Troy Bennett and Ernest Bennett.  
Survivors include brothers, Gunther Kohler, Klaus Kohler and Rainer Kohler, all of Germany; several nieces and nephews of Germany; aunt, Mathilde Katz of Germany; brother-in-law, Charles Bennett of Michigan; sister-in-law, Louise Bennett of Johnson City; nieces, Fredna Ollis of Erwin, Vivienne L. Frye of Erwin, Arlene Webb of Michigan, Jenny Beesley of Michigan, Charlotte Johnson of Buford, S.C., and Esther Sylvia Bennett of Johnson City; nephews, Kenneth Crowder of Erwin, Ron Bennett of Trenton, Tenn., and Fritz Bennett of Michigan.
