Donald Ray Hensley, 72, of Erwin, passed away at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital Monday, May 2, 2011.
He was a son of the late Wallace C. and Mary Rogers Hensley. He attended Pathway Freewill Baptist and was employed by White’s #2 for 35 years.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hensley is preceded in death by two brothers: Johnny and Bobby Hensley; two sisters: Emma Jean Ledford and Louise Nelson.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Honeycutt Hensley; daughters: Merri Gail Tipton and husband, the Rev. Keith Tipton, of Erwin, Angie King and husband, Michael, of Erwin; two step-Daughters: Cynthia Bowman, Greeneville, Peggy Eshelmon, Ala.; grandchildren: Adam Tipton and wife, Maggie, Tommy Tipton, Katie Price and husband, Billy Price, Kristy King, James and Justin Eshelmon; great grandchildren: Michael Price, Jacob Price, Aubrie Tipton, Gabriel Eshelmon and Andie Smith, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Mr. Hensley will be from 6 p.m. until service time at 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 4 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Trivette, the Rev. J.C. Sheets and the Rev Ronnie Peterson will officiate.
Interment will be Thursday, May 5, at 1 p.m. at Garland Cemetery.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Alford, Larry and Marty Hensley, Jimmy, Bobby and Junior Nelson, John Ault and Jamie Banner.
