Donald Ray “Don” Gentry

Donald Ray “Don” Gentry, age 69, 225 McCurry Road, Unicoi, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Unicoi County to the late William “Jerry” and Maebelle Gentry McLaughlin.
Mr. Gentry was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army from 1964 until his discharge as sergeant in 1970. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Expert Rifle Medal, and the Armed Forces Exemplary Medal while serving his country. Mr. Gentry was a Mason with the Centennial Masonic Lodge #491 F&AM.
He was a retired millwright and was of the free will baptist faith.
Other than his parents, Mr. Gentry was preceded in death by his uncle, Arthur Gentry Jr. and aunt, Lula Hyder.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Patricia Davis Gentry; son: Trevor Gentry and wife, Stacie; two daughters: Tammy Tilson and husband, Tracy, Tarah Gentry and husband Jesse; grandchildren: Robert, Joshua, Tyler, Ashlynn, Jacob, Sarah, Braden, and a grandchild to be born soon; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; special great niece and great nephews: Peyton, Christian, and Olivia and his faithful companion: “Peanut.”
Masonic Rites by the Centennial Lodge #491 F&AM will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 7, in the chapel of Unicoi Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday prior to the Masonic Rites.
Interment will be at a later date.
