Dayton Carl “D.C.” Byrd

Dayton Carl “D.C.” Byrd, age 81, passed away on Monday, March 30, 2015 at Johnson City Medical Center. He was a native of Washington County and a son of the late Perry and Laura Burleson Byrd. Mr. Byrd served in Germany with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was an onsite Construction Superintendent during the construction of Municipal Water Treatment facilities through the southeast. He retired from Crowder Construction Company. D.C. was a member of Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, D.C. is preceded in death by his first wife Janice Tolley Byrd and a daughter, Shari Byrd Jennings.

Corey Bailey and wife, Heather of Hampton,
Cole Bailey of Unicoi;
Great Grandsons: Riley Broyles of Erwin,
Ridge Broyles of Erwin

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Dayton Carl “D.C.” Byrd in a funeral service to be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 4, 2015, in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Noah Taylor and Brother Delbert Gillette will officiate. Vocal selections will be provided by Alexis Taylor. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 11:00 AM and continue until service time on Saturday at Valley Funeral Home. A graveside committal service will be held following the funeral service on Saturday in the Mausoleum Chapel of Evergreen Cemetery with Reverend Larry Tolley officiating. Active pallbearers will be James Necessary, Walter Harris, Paul Whitson, Corey Bailey, Jason Broyles, and Cole Bailey. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Ernie Deadrick and Bob Grindstaff.
