Daniel Edward Strickland

Daniel StricklandDaniel Edward Strickland, 79, of Erwin, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Strickland was a native of Unicoi County and a son of the late Charles Daniel and Mary Elizabeth Brown Strickland. He served in the United States Marine Corp and the United States Air Force. Mr. Strickland retired from Nuclear Fuel Service. Daniel was a longtime member of Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church. He enjoyed life and friends, loved eating out, especially Chinese food, and was a prankster, too. In 1995, he was inducted into the UCHS Football Hall of Fame for his “Great Performance on Defense”. Mr. Strickland was an avid hunter. With hunting being his passion everything revolved around his hunting. In addition to his parents, Daniel is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Strickland in 2002 and sons, Charles Michael Strickland and Robert Edward Strickland.

Grandchildren: Michael Strickland, Tiffany Strickland, Bradley Strickland, Emily Lingerfelt, Adam Lingerfelt, Braylen Lingerfelt, Steven Lyninger, and Josh Lyninger;

3 Great Grandchildren;

Dearest Family Friends: Arnold Foster of Erwin,

Harold Bailey of Erwin.

 

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Daniel Edward Strickland in a funeral service to be at 2:00 PM,                  Friday, July 1, 2016, in the chapel of Valley Funeral Home with Reverend Noah Taylor officiating. A visitation period to share memories and support to the family will begin at           1:00 PM and will continue until service time on Friday at Valley Funeral Home. A committal service will follow at Martin Creek Cemetery with Military Honors. Serving as active pallbearers will be Adam Lingerfelt, Michael Strickland, Josh Lyninger, Steven Lyninger, Jake Wilder, and Charlie Wilder.
