Dallas Barry Bud Miller, age 88, of Erwin, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at his home. He was a native of Erwin, a son of the late James and Lola Dean Miller and was the youngest of nine children. Bud had served in the U. S. Navy during WWII as a machine gunner on a PBM Mariner Patrol Bomber. He had worked in building material sales and later worked as self-employed contractor building over twenty-six houses. Bud was a member of Ninth Street Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Beatrice Bradley Miller, four brothers: Ray, Conway, Ern and Gene and by four sisters: Jackie, Rose, Pansy and Pauline.

The life of Dallas B Bud Miller will be remembered and honored in a funeral service to be at 1 PM, Thursday, June 27, 2013, in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend Rob Moor will officiate. Vocal selections will be provided by the Larry Pate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will be from 12 PM until service time on Thursday. A committal service will follow at Swingle Cemetery with military honors to be provided by the U.C.H.S. Jr. R.O.T.C.
