Coma M. Hopson Love, beloved widow of S.A. “Barber” Love, died early on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, at the Center on Aging and Health in Erwin.
Mrs. Love was a longtime resident of the center and before that a longtime resident of the towns of Erwin and Unicoi.
She was the oldest living charter member of Central Baptist Church of Erwin. Mrs. Love was born in Sioux, N.C., on March 25, 1908, the oldest of nine children and was the last to survive.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Love was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Love Wilson; and one granddaughter, Carla Gilber Cameron.
Survivors include three of her four daughters, Allene (Mrs. Clifford Gilbert) of Johnson City, Geraldine (Mrs. E. R. Johnson) of Fairfax, Va., and Linda Ross of Vilas, N.C.; and one son, Buddy A. Love of Dothan, Ala.; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, from the Ledford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Wiley officiating. A private burial was held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Robert Ledford Funeral Home was in charge.
