Clarence H. Sparks, age 77, 570 Hensley Road, Flag Pond, TN passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014, in the Johnson City Medical Center. He was a li felong resident of Unicoi County and a son of the late Herman and Bethel Shelton Sparks. Mr. Sparks retired from Nuclear Fuel Service after twenty-eight years of service. He was a member of the Higgins Chapel Baptist Church; the Flag Pond Masonic Lodge and the Jericho Shrine Temple. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Dallas Sparks; two sisters, Inas Higgins and Faye Edwards.
Mr. Sparks leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of fifty-two years, Mary Lee Sparks; one son, Gary Wayne Mainer and wife, Lela of Flag Pond; two daughters, Janet Campbell and husband, Mickey and Melinda Bennett and husband, Rick all of Flag Pond; two brothers, Edward Sparks and wife, Brenda of Flag Pond and Donald Sparks and wife, Margie of Jonesborough; four grandchildren, Isaac Mainer and wife, Laura, Andrea Campbell, Alisha Mainer and Heather Campbell; a special niece Cynthia and special nephews, John and Tim, who called Clarence “Papaw”.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 P. M. to 2:00 P. M. Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at the Higgins Chapel Baptist Church, Flag Pond, prior to the 2:00 P. M. funeral service. Reverend Edward Hoyle, Reverend Logan Buchanan and Reverend Harold Lewis will officiate. Music will be provided by the church choir. Honorary pallbearer will be Chris Brackins. Active pallbearers will be John Hensley, Tim Hensley, Randy Hall, Rick Hensley, Isaac Mainer and Dewayne Sparks. Interment will follow in the Berry Hensley Cemetery.
