Buddie Joe Simmons

Buddie Joe Simmons, age 87, of Erwin, passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at the Center on Aging and Health. A native of Erwin, Mr. Simmons is a son of the late Clarence and Cora Bell Vance Simmons. He served in the United Sates Navy during the Korean Conflict where he earned the National Defense and Navy Occupation Commendations. Buddie retired from the Erwin Police Department after 29 years of service. He enjoyed watching sports and loved spending time with his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Simmons is preceded in death by loving wife of 51 years, Gloria “Pat” Walker Simmons, a brother, Walter “Buster” Simmons, one brother-in-law, Frank Higgins, and a nephew, Kevin Higgins.

Buddie Joe Simmons leaves behind to cherish his memory:
Son: Tim Simmons and wife, Cindy;
Brother: Bill Simmons and wife, Alma;
Sister: Barbara Higgins;
Grandsons: Josh Simmons and wife, Natalie,
Jordan Simmons and wife, Melissa;
Great Grandchildren: Jackson, Brady, Carter, Cameron, Lilah, Landry, and Kinsley;
Nephews: Mike Simmons, Keith Simmons and Terry Higgins.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Buddie Joe Simmons in a committal service to be held at 11:00 am, on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 under the Mausoleum Portico of Evergreen Cemetery. Chaplain Karl Gasser will officiate. Those attending the committal service should meet at Evergreen Cemetery by 10:50 am.

In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial donations be made to the Unicoi County Animal Shelter, 185 N. Industrial Drive., Erwin, TN 37650.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic we respectfully request that anyone attending services please wear a mask or face covering at all times and observe all social distancing guidelines.
