Bud Hensley, Jr. age 89, of Erwin passed away Friday, October 16, 2015 in the Center on Aging and He alth, Erwin. He was born in Unicoi County but had lived in Rockledge, Florida until his retirement. Mr. Hensley returned to Erwin after his retirement. He was a son of the late Bud Hensley, Sr. and Mamie Banner Hensley. Mr. Hensley was a U. S. Navy Veteran. He had been employed by the Clinchfield Railroad and retired from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Mr. Hensley attended Calvary Baptist Church. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lennie Jones Hensley on March 3, 2010; a son, Toby Barnett and several brothers and sisters.
Mr. Hensley leaves behind to cherish his memories his daughter, Penny Pivato of Erwin; two brothers: J. D. Hensley of Erwin and Teddy Hensley; four sisters: Mona Brotherton and husband, C. J. of Danville, VA, Lucille Booth and husband, Bill of Erwin, Genny Ruble of Charlotte, NC and Alva Jackson and husband, Charles; four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 20, 2015 from 5:00 P. M. until the hour of service at the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend David Crutchfield will officiate at the 7:00 P. M. service. Music will be provided by Inez Chandler. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The committal service will be held at 10:00 A. M. Wednesday in the Roselawn Memory Garden, Johnson City. Military honors will be rendered by the Kingsport VFW Post 4933. Those wishing to attend please meet at the funeral home by 9:30 A. M. Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
