Briscoe Cooper, Sr.

Briscoe Cooper, Sr., age 88, of Unicoi, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2014, at the James H. Quillen V. A. Medical Center. Born on October 20, 1925 in Poplar, NC, he was a son of the late Charlie and Essie Peterson Cooper. Mr. Cooper was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Navy during the Pacific Theatre. He was a pipe fitter and welder thru the U.A. Local Union #538. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Briscoe was a Mason. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Ruby Pauline Riddle Cooper in 1993 and a brother, Cicero Cooper.

The family requests the honor of your presence as we honor and remember the life of Briscoe Cooper in a funeral service to be held at 7:00 PM, Thursday, May 15, 2014, in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home with Reverend David Crutchfield officiating. Masonic Services rendered by Centennial Lodge #491 F&AM, Erwin, TN with Brother Carlyle Love officiating. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 5:00 PM on Thursday, May 15, 2014, in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home and will continue until service time. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, on Friday, May 16, 2014, at Roselawn Memorial Park with the UCHS Jr. ROTC providing military honors. Those who will be attending will meet at Valley Funeral Home by 9:30 AM on Friday to go in procession to Roselawn Memorial Park. Those serving as pallbearers will be notified by the family.
