Brenda Sue McCurry Collins, 62, passed away on April 26, 2016 at Johnson City Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Brenda was born to the late Fred and Frances McCurry, the first of 6 children. She attended Unicoi County High School and worked hard for many years to provide a loving home for “her Boys” that she was always so proud of. She had a passion for horses and cooking, but her greatest joy was spending time with her children and the grandchildren she adored.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Mike Collins of Unicoi and her sons, Michael Harris and wife Missy of Erwin, Johnny Tipton and wife Angie of Unicoi and Rich Hann and wife Shannon of Kingsport. Her grandchildren Kayla Pignanelli and husband Charles, Christian Tipton, Hannah Tipton, Ryker Hann, Reid Hann and great-grandson “little” Charles Pignanelli. Brothers Freddy McCurry, Johnny McCurry and sisters Terry Keesee, Kathy Howell and Joyce Whittington. She had many beloved nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate her life was held at the Unicoi Church of God on Saturday, April 30, 2016, at 1 p.m. The service was officiated by Rev. Eddie Blazer. Vocal selections were provided by Billie Collins and Rev. Eddie Blazer. A wonderful dinner followed the service in the fellowship hall. Many thanks to all those who came together to honor Brenda and her life. The family will continue to receive friends and family at the home of Mike Collins in Unicoi.
Special thanks to Ron and Karen Schavrien, Rev. Eddie Blazer and all the many special friends who shared her life and have been such a comfort to the family in their time of sorrow.
