Bonnie Wilcox Bowman, age 77, of Indian Springs, Kingsport, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at Wellmont Hospice House.
She was the daughter of the late Handy and Fairene Forbes Wilcox. She was preceded in death by a sister, Hattie McCurry and a brother, Bruce Wilcox.
Mrs. Bowman enjoyed her work, family, and was always laughing and enjoying everyone, never meeting a stranger.
She was a member of West Hills Baptist Church.
Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, Hugh P. Bowman Jr.; daughter: Deborah Bowman of Canton, Ohio; son: Mike Bowman and wife, Allison, of Kingsport; six grandchildren: Tammy Fredrickson, Tim Hartley, Evan Bowman, Chris Bowman, Matthew Bowman, Seth Bowman; four great-grandchildren: Ethan Montgomery, Katelyn Fredrickson, Torri Hartley and Beau Hartley; one sister: Janie Whitson and husband, Brooks, of Unicoi; three brothers: Jim Wilcox and wife, Wanda, of Unicoi; Ronnie Wilcox and wife, Patty, Mars Hill, N.C., and Claude Wilcox and wife, Pat, of Kingsport, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was conducted at 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 13, at Akard Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Hall officiating. The committal service and interment was at 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 14, at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Honorary pallbearers were Evan Bowman, Chris Bowman, Matthew Bowman, Seth Bowman and Timothy Hartley.
