Billy Ray Tilson

Billy Ray Tilson, son of Della and Earl Tilson, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, February 14th. He passed away with his wife at his bedside, holding his hands. He was also surrounded by his children and very good friends, who were very dear to him.
Billy loved old cars and hot rods. He loved old westerns. Billy was a fun, loving person to be around. He had a natural way to make people smile and feel welcome around him.
Billy was born on January 7, 1951, in Erwin, TN. He leaves behind three children from previous marriages with Judy Tilson and Rebecca Justice Tilson. One daughter, Greta Tilson and her special friend Trina, and two sons, David Tilson and fiancé Gina Lloyd, Willie Tilson and fiancé Lura Smith. Four grandchildren: Kaitlynn Tilson, Marleigh Tilson, Dylon Tilson, and Noah Smith.
He has four surviving sisters: Mary Hoilman, Margeret Richardson, Bobbie Webb and Wanda Mermon. He also had three deceased sisters Mildred Constable, Earlene Tilson , Wilma Jones and one deceased brother David Tilson. He had several nieces, nephews and cousins that he loved dearly.
His wife, Rene Tilson, would like to give a special thank you to her mother, Marge Edwards, for all her loving support. Also, her sister, Karen Relleva who is a registered nurse, was there for Billy anytime he needed her. All her brothers and sisters for their love and support. His wife and family would also like to give a special thank you to Larry Higgins and his wife, Kathy Higgins, for being there through everything. Also, E.L. Wheeler and his wife Queenie Wheeler and his doctor, Charles Famoyin and the entire nursing staff at “Quality of Life Hematology & Oncology”. A special thank you to Billy’s hospice nurse Katina with “Caris”. Katina became an instant family member.
In Billy’s final two days, a few special people came by and held Billy’s hand to show love and support: David Honeycutt and wife Missy, Mary Hoilman, Kathy Hoilman, Alton Hoilman, Rainbow Richardson, Margo Edwards, Karen Relleva and Lydia Relleva.
Billy was cremated; however, a special service will be held at Pilgrims Freewill Baptist Church, Chestoa Pike in Erwin, TN. on Saturday, February 27th at 6:00 p.m.
Rev. Danny Hughes and Rev. E.L. Wheeler will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to Pilgrims Freewill Baptist Church.
Extra parking will be available in the family’s yard. Please park anywhere convenient.
