Betty Ruth Tipton, age 84, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at the Center on Aging and Health. She was a native of Erwin, and a daughter of the late Vance and Hazel McInturf Henley.
Ms. Tipton was a Christian and a faithful member of Trinity Freewill Baptist Church. She was a loving mother. She loved to travel and was ready when someone said “Let’s go.”
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Charles Henley, Ray Henley, Earnest Henley, Jake Henley, Howard Henley and Bobby Henley; sisters: June Honeycutt, Shirley Bailey and Charlotte Tipton.
Survivors include two daughters: Margaret Rittichier and her husband Dave, of Erwin, Helen Furches and her husband Charlie, of Erwin; two sons: Toney Tipton and his wife Chae Hui, of Grovetown, Ga., Johnny Tipton and his wife Bonnie, of South Mills, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Ms. Tipton was at 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 11, at Trinity Freewill Baptist Church. The Rev. Andy Patterson officiated.
A committal service was held at 11:30 a.m., at Roselawn Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Activity Department, C/O Center on Aging and Health, 880 S. Mohawk St., Erwin, TN 37650.
