Betty Rose Edwards, age 84, Hoyle Road, Flag Pond, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, at Madison Health and Rehabilitation in Mars Hill, N.C.
She was a lifelong resident of Unicoi County, and a daughter of the late Oscar and Narssis Tipton Hoyle. Mrs. Edwards was a long time employee of Morrill Motors and was a member of Higgins Chapel Baptist Church.
She was a loving mother and grandmother. Mrs. Edwards loved knitting and gardening. She also loved to watch and feed her deer.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson: Andrew Shelton; step mother: Betsy Hoyle; two step brothers: Arnold English and Dwight English.
Survivors include two daughters: Judy Spindler and husband Christopher, Barnardsville, N.C., and Karen English, Mars Hill, N.C.; one grandson: Pete Shelton, Barnardsville, N.C.; one granddaughter: Jennifer Wilson and husband Tracy, Weaverville, N.C.; three step grandchildren: Christopher Spindler Jr., St. Augustine, Fla., Megan Klein, Asheville, N.C., Jonathan Spindler, Barnardsville, N.C.; ten great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; one step sister: Janice Wallace, Newport News, Va.; numerous cousins.
Funeral service was held Friday, Aug. 17, at 2 p.m. in the Robert Ledford Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Harold Lewis officiating. Special music was provided by Lela and Gary Mainer.
Interment followed in Upper Higgins Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tracy Wilson, John Edwards, Charles Harris, Coy Lee Harris, Jonathan Spindler, and Jimmy Hoyle.
