Betty Jo Hughes Lamie

Betty Jo Hughes Lamie, age 80, of Erwin, passed away on October 11, 2015 after an extended illness. She was a native of Unicoi County and the daughter of the late Whitt and Mae Hughes of Erwin, TN. Betty graduated from Unicoi County High School in 1953. She retired from the Unicoi County School System in 1994. Betty enjoyed reading, cross stitching and watching her Dallas Cowboys. She was a member of Shallow Ford Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim “Weed” Lamie and brothers Junior Hughes and Bill Hughes, both of Erwin.

Daughter: Tracy Montgomery and husband, Todd of Hampton, TN;
Grandchildren: Paige Montgomery of Hampton, TN,
Devan Lamie of Erwin,
Julie Collins of Savannah, GA,
Ben Lamie of Johnson City,
Alex Lamie of Erwin,
Emily Lamie of Erwin;
6 Great Grandchildren; and
Several Nieces and Nephews

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence as we offer tribute and remember the life of Betty Jo Lamie in a committal service to be at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at Evergreen Cemetery. Reverend Kevin Laws will officiate. Active pallbearers will be Gary Ambrose, Shane Buchanan, Todd Montgomery, Ben Lamie, Lee Hughes, and Cheyenne Lamarcke. Those who wish to attend will meet at Valley Funeral Home by 12:30 PM on Wednesday to go in procession to Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family would like memorial donations to be made to The Gideons International, Gideon Memorial Bible Representative, P.O. Box 398, Erwin, TN 37650.
