Bert Arrowood, age 95, Erwin, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2013. He was a native of Poplar NC and a son of the late John Henry and Mattie Louise Cooper Arrowood. Bert was a WWII, U. S. Army Veteran. He has fought in Northern France; Rhineland; Central Europe: Ardennes. Bert was decorated and cited with 4 Bronze Stars, American Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Ribbon. His trade was a carpenter after leaving the service, which he loved so much. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife: Pearlie M. Arrowood, and sons: Johnny Ray and Ronald Arrowood.

A military committal service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Mountain Home National Cemetery with military honors provided by the TN Army National Guard. Visitation will be held on Thursday at Valley Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Active pallbearers will be Glenn David Arrowood, Israel Jones, Jeremy Fair, James Arrowood, Michael Thomas Vanover, Michael Loyd Vanover, Joseph Ray and Marcus King.
