Belva Epley Garland, age 99, Erwin, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 21, 2021. She was a lifelong resident of Erwin and a daughter of the late Kelly L. and Harriet Taylor Epley.
Belva retired from Hoover Ball where she worked as an Inspector for several years. She was a Cradle Roll Member of First Baptist Church. Belva was a very active member of the church. She enjoyed camping and was a member of the Erwin Camping Club. Belva loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed baking and decorating birthday cakes for family members.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of seventy-two years, Raymond Earl Garland; three brothers: John, Kenneth and K.L. “Bud” Epley, Jr.; two sisters: Joyce Pierce and Ruby Williams.
Survivors include two daughters: Brenda Garland, Erwin and Becki Garland (Michael Higgins), Knoxville; one granddaughter, Haley Patton, Brevard, NC; one grandson, Trevor Higgins (Rosemary), Shanghai, China; three great grandchildren: Hattie Patton, Gus and Dash Higgins; sister-in-law, Ann Epley; several nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
