Bascom W. Tipton, 73, of 110 White Cove Road, Unicoi, died Sunday, March 27, 2011, at the Johnson City Medical Center.
He was born December 1, 1937 in Unicoi, to the late John and Ida Peterson Tipton.
Bascom was a member of Unicoi United Methodist Church. He was a retired supervisor for Nuclear Fuel Services.
He is survived by two daughters: Sherri McAninch and husband Junior, Sondra McCurry and husband Steve, all of Elizabethton; four grandchildren: Kalah Tipton, Lauren McCurry, Ashley McAninch and Adam McAninch; one great granddaughter: Rileigh Wooten; two sisters: Julia Allen and husband Wayne, of Erwin, Brenda Jones and husband Dan, of Stone Mountain, Ga.; one niece: Nicole Carter, of Georgia; one nephew: Chris Lowe, of Johnson City; special friends: Bernie Cole of Erwin, Fred Briggs of Unicoi, andStewart Hagy of Elizabethton.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 30, 2011 from the chapel of Unicoi Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow with the Rev. Reece Harris officiating. Music will be provided by Inez Chandler.
Active pallbearers will be Bernie Cole, Stewart Hagy, Chuck Street, Elton Seagroves, Junior McAninch, and Chris Lowe. Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Biggs, Philip Hensley, and fellow employees of Nuclear Fuel Services.
Interment will be at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, March 31, at Peterson Cemetery.
