Barbara Wilson-King

Barbara Wilson-King, age 73, of Erwin, died Sunday, April 1, 2012, at the Johnson City Medical Center. She is a native of Unicoi County and the daughter of the late Cecil and Ruth Smith-Wilson.
She began her career as a substitute teacher for the Unicoi County School System, later becoming the Adult Education and GED coordinator. She was a member of Ninth Street Baptist Church and the secretary for the Upper East Tennessee Human Development Agency.
Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her nephew, Ricky Hensley.
Survivors include her husband: Don King of Erwin; son: Mike King and his wife Brandie, Erwin; daughter: Julie Rice and her husband Christopher, Jonesborough; sisters: Carolyn Hensley and her husband Kyle, Erwin, Linda Banks and her husband Bob, Erwin. Cecilia Lemmon and her husband Bill, Erwin; grandchildren: Logan King, Kaitlyn Griffin; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews and one great-great-nephew.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2012, at 8 p.m., in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. The Rev. Todd McLaughlin and Bishop John Edwards will officiate.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6 p.m. until service time at Valley Funeral Home. The committal service will be held on Friday, April 6, at 1 p.m., at Roselawn Memory Gardens.
