BARBARA ANN ODOM DOTY
Barbara Ann Odom Doty, 67, died Tuesday, March 22, 2011, following a brief battle with cancer.
She was a native of Washington County, having lived in Carter County prior to her residence in Unicoi County for the past 35 years.
Mrs. Doty is a daughter of the late John Hale and Marie Simerly Odom. She was of the Baptist faith. She was employed as an administrative assistant for several different businesses. Prior to that she worked as a supervisor for Watauga Apparel for approximately 15 years.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Erica Davidson in 2002.
Survivors include her husband, and the love of her life, Dwight Doty; two daughters: Shari Davidson and husband Matt Bennett, Unicoi and Joy Martin and fiancé, Thomas Martin, Johnson City; seven grandchildren: Dustin Ledford, Angel Ledford, Tierra Collins, Tyler Davidson, Jakob Martin, Eric Davidson, and Bethany Bennett; seven brothers: Floyd Bud Odom and wife Theresa, Keith Joe Sluder and wife Enola Tiny Sluder, Harold Speedy Sluder and wife Katie, Kenneth Buckeye Sluder and wife, Tammy, all of Roan Mountain, Johnny Odom and wife Sharon, Chicago, Ill., Darin Odom, Blaine, Tenn., John Burleson, Hampton; one sister, Doris Akans, and husband Jeff, Blaine; loving step-mother, Joyce Odom; a very special cousin Gail Michaels; several nieces and nephews, and a longtime friend, Hannah Jenkins.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 25 from the Unicoi Funeral Home. The Rev. Garry Edwards officiated. Special music was provided by Theresa Odom and Ron Fender. Brothers of the deceased served as pallbearers.
Committal service was held Saturday, March 26, in the Johnson Cemetery, Roan Mountain.
