Barbara A. Davis

Barbara A. Davis, Erwin, passed away Friday, December 6, 2013. She was a daughter of the late John Calvin Henon Sellars and Winnie Inez Robbins Sellars. Mrs. Davis was an accomplished musician serving both her church, Central Baptist, and Valley Funeral Home as pianist and organist. She taught piano lessons in addition to her career as Medical Records Librarian at UCMH. She was named “Citizen of the Year” in 1982 jointly with her husband Fred for their significant contribution in establishing the Unicoi County Heritage Museum where she served as the first curator.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Fred G. Davis; her brothers, Dean Sellars, Manning Sellars, E.C. Sellars and Tom Sellars; and her sister, O’Nell Sellars Anders.

Barbara A. Davis has left behind to cherish her memories,
Daughter, Marcella Davis-Burks and her husband, Brad Burks;
Son, Steven Davis and his wife Lynda Hargroves Davis;
Two Grandsons, Justin Davis and Patrick Davis;
One Great-Grandchild,
Two Step Daughters Elizabeth Dolinger and husband Charlie, and Hannah Hargroves;
Step Grandson Joseph Clark;
Three Step Great Grand Children.

The family request the honor of your presence as we honor and remember the life of Barbara A. Davis in a funeral service on Sunday, December 8, 2013, at 5:00 PM, in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Rev. Larry E. Wiley, Pastor of Central Baptist Church will officiate. Musical selections will be provided by Martha Wiley and Charlie and Beth Dolinger. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will begin at 4:00 PM and continue until service time. Honorary pallbearers are Steven Davis, Justin Davis, Patrick Davis, Brad Burks, Tyrrell Anders, David Washburn and Wayne Sellars.

Barbara’s favorite daily prayer – as taught to her by her father:
“Lord we thank Thee for these and all other blessings we may receive. Amen”
