Anton Peter Gruhot, 86, of Johnson City, died Monday, April 8, 2013 at Broadmore Assisted Living of Johnson City. He was a native of Moline, IL, son of the late Anton and Jennie Debautt Gruhot. Anton was a retired Chief Petty Officer having served in the U. S. Navy for 22 years. He was a veteran of both WWII and Korea. Anton worked for 2 years as a typesetter at the Kingsport Time News. He later retired from Clinchfield Railroad after working 17 years as an Executive Assistant. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the Destroyer and Destroyer Escort Group of East Tennessee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Keitha Ford Gruhot, a brother, Lawrence Gruhot and a grandson, Ryan Mitchell.
Remaining to cherish his memory, are his daughter, Rosemary Mitchell of Knoxville; his son and daughter-in-law, Pete and Valerie Gruhot of Jonesborough; two sisters, Florence Winter and Alice Tollakson both of Taunton, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Shannon Milligan and Amanda Gruhot; six great grandchildren.

A graveside service is scheduled for Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 12:00 pm in the Mausoleum Chapel of the Washington County Memory Gardens, under the direction of Father Miguel Perez. Military honors will be provided by the U. S. Navy and the honor guard of the Knights of Columbus will also be in attendance.
